History
Griffin Land today is an expansion of what was previously the real estate operation of Culbro Corporation, whose predecessors had grown tobacco in Hartford area since 1910. Eight decades later, in 1997, assets of the tobacco-oriented Culbro Corporation were spun off, and the newly-formed Griffin Land & Nurseries took over Culbro's non-tobacco interests.

Efforts of Griffin Land and its predecessor over the years have been centered on high quality, long term speculative development; from the early development of Griffin Center in the late 1970's, to the New England Tradeport and early residential developments in the 1980's, and including present day, when Griffin Land accelerated an already-aggressive speculative and build to suit construction program. Since 1997, Griffin has successfully built and leased eight buildings having a total of over 750,000 square feet.
